Hurry

steam rises and wisps
above the white mug
nesting between
my
palms

it's warmth, like our
family fireplace yawning
its last embers on
Christmas
Eve

Jing! Jing! Jing!

out the window, a
watercolor of melting blues,
blacks, purples, magentas; still deciding
where to
set

could I but disappear
into the froth
of Earl and cream,
and stir myself into
a
dream?

one last sip —
now I too must go
and splash my
colors onto
that
window
